Our History
Building a regenerative carbon farm in the heart of Colorado
Gardens of Fire is a regenerative carbon farm in Durango. We focus on upcycling local carbon waste into usable biochar for agricultural and non-agricultural use, alongside preparing our soil for new farming and poultry operations.
We have spent two years investing time into our soils and land through artisanal biocharring and blending with compost. Our major goal is to turn our land into an active carbon sink that naturally sequesters large amounts of carbon through regular photosynthesis and regenerative landscape management.
We offer biochar that has been made artisanally (by hand) from local carbon waste. This carbon starts in our forests and has been cleared due to fire mitigation and reducing the fuel load from beetle-kill zones. We upcycle the wood waste received from a firewood producer in Bayfield into usable biochar. We also directly install our biochar blend with partners in Durango across multiple projects in Southwest Colorado.
